Civil Contingencies Bill - Archive

The Civil Contingencies Bill became an Act of Parliament on 18 November, 2004. The text of the Civil Contingencies Act [External website] is on the OPSI website.

This page has the early Civil Contingencies Bill documents from the consultation period. They are here for reference only, and are not now part of the legislative process.

In all cases, please look at the Civil Contingencies Act page for the most up-to-date version of the documents.

The Civil Contingencies Bill, with the accompanying non-legislative measures, will deliver a single framework for civil protection in the United Kingdom.

The Government has published a draft set of regulations alongside the Bill. Please note that these regulations are for illustrative purposes only. The Government will consult publicly on the draft regulations and guidance in due course once the Bill is enacted.
